We usually meet on a Monday night, either for a hill training session or a bimonthly mile race. All sessions are free to anyone that wants to join in – no need to book, just come along!
Unless otherwise indicated, all sessions start and finish at the corner of Erlanger and Arbuthnot Road, at the bottom of Telegraph Hill Lower Park, SE14.
Monday Evenings, 7:15pm
As our name suggests, Telegraph Hill Running Group is all about the hills! Each week, after some simple drills to warm up, we run a different session, ranging from short interval sprints to longer steady runs, all based around the ups and downs of Telegraph Hill. Suitable for anyone that can run continuously for 30 minutes at any pace, these sessions are ideal for anyone looking to improve their strength and stamina, whether aiming for a new parkrun PB or training for a first (or even fifty-first) marathon. See our sample sessions page for an idea of what to expect.
The Handicap Mile
For the first session of every alternate month, we do a mile race round Peckham Rye, each person setting off at a different time according to their estimated pace (which we can work out based on your most recent 5K time or, failing that, a best guess) with the idea that everyone should finish around the same time. Its a good little fitness test and, done regularly, a good way to gauge how you’re progressing. We’ll meet at the usual spot at 7.15 for a gentle jog over to the Rye OR if you prefer feel free to join us at the entrance to Strakers Road, half way up the east side of Peckham Rye Common at 7.30. For details of the mile course, look here.
