Welcome!
We are a friendly and informal free running group started in 2015 by a handful of local runners wanting to improve their running and overall fitness, gaining the motivation and support that only running in a group provides.
We meet every Monday evening at the bottom of Telegraph Hill Park, on the corner of Arbuthnot and Erlanger Roads and, after a series of simple dynamic drills to warm up, we run!
Our sessions vary from week to week, from shorter sprints to longer, steady runs, usually lasting between 30 and 45 minutes and all using the ups and downs of the roads around Telegraph Hill Lower Park – check out our facebook page, or get in touch to join our WhatsApp group, for details of each session; we usually post what we’re going to be doing the night before a session.
We welcome runners of all abilities, though please be aware that, although we encourage everyone to run at a pace that suits them and no one gets left behind, most of the sessions that we run are hilly intervals so by their very nature can be quite physically demanding – but don’t let that put you off! Whether you’re just starting out following a couch-to-5k programme, wanting to better your parkrun time or training for your 1st (or even 51st) marathon, a regular hill session is a great way to quickly improve your ability and overall fitness.
Hills.
Hal Higdon
We love them. We hate them.
They make us strong. They make us weak.
Today I chose to embrace hills.
